Kenya: The new BigShip project was set up in the Kiamaiko slum following a flood in April 2024. The team continues to support the severely affected region and aims to open up new prospects for the people there. At the Resource Centre, women can take part in workshops, children can visit the library, and the doors are always open to everyone. Three local staff members, who had already worked tirelessly to help during the floods, set up their own organisation and established a small office. This quickly developed into a Resource Centre – a place where doors and hearts are open. As well as running a microcredit programme to help set up small businesses, BigShip provides regular meals, particularly during the school holidays, to prevent malnutrition among children.
